And homemaderecipes is my little corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, author, and creator behind homemaderecipes. I first opened the site in 2016 while I was still working full‑time as a graphic designer in Portland. I started posting simple weeknight dinners for my friends who kept asking for the recipes, and before I knew it, the blog had a steady stream of comments. In 2020 I quit my day job to focus on the site full‑time, and by the end of 2022 we were serving 45,000 unique visitors each month and had built a newsletter list of 12,000 food‑loving subscribers.
The biggest surprise came in March 2023 when the Food Network blog featured my “One‑Pan Lemon Herb Chicken” post. That shout‑out sent a surge of traffic our way and gave me the confidence to launch a quarterly printable recipe round‑up, which now sells over 300 copies per issue. I’ve also added a short video series on Instagram Reels, where I break down the steps in under two minutes.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina with my husband, Alex, and our two kids, Lily (7) and Sam (4). When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge trails, tending to my herb garden, or digging through crates of vintage vinyl at the local record store. My favorite dishes to make are comforting, hand‑crafted meals like my grandma’s chicken‑and‑dumpling soup, a spicy mango salsa, and a simple lemon‑thyme focaccia that always disappears before it cools.
A fun fact? I still keep a handwritten recipe journal that started as a college notebook. It’s filled with doodles, sauce stains, and the occasional grocery receipt—proof that the best meals often begin with a little mess and a lot of love.
